Description

The Decade Counter Using CD4017 is more durable. It is a CMOS Decade counter IC. CD4017 is used for low-range counting applications. It can count from 0 to 10 (the decade count). The circuit designed by using this ic will save board space and also the time required to design the circuit. CD4017 is as ‘Johnson 10 stage decade counter’.

This Decade Counter Using Circuit is a simple circuit that shows the pattern of the Ripple Decade counter. IC 4017 is used here as the counter. The 4017B is an integrated circuit that has been designed to count pulses. It has 16 pins and looks like any other 16 pins integrated circuit. To provide the clock pulse to the IC, a manual switch is used here. Instead one can use any external clock source also. The output frequency depends on the speed of the pulse. LEDs are there to demonstrate the output.
